Imran starts preparations for formation of govt at Centre

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Friday started preparations for formation of his party’s government at the Centre after the PTI won a majority of seats in the National Assembly.
The PTI is also working to form its government in Punjab and for this purpose it has started contacting leaders of different parties and independent candidates.

PTI leader Jehangir Tarin made telephonic contacts with the head of a faction of Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
The MQM faction and the PPP did not participate in the Multi-Party Conference (MPC) convened by the Muttahidda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman in Islamabad on Friday.
When contacted, PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry claimed that PTI had clinched 137 seats of the National Assembly out of 270 and, therefore, it would easily form its government at the Centre.
He also claimed that the number of PTI’s successful candidates in Punjab was 130, while the number of PML-N seats according to unofficial results of the polls, is said to be 127.
“We will definitely form our government in Punjab as we are in contact with 21 independent candidates,” the PTI leader said
When asked who will be the next chief ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that the matter would be decided by PTI chairman Imran Khan.
Talking about provincial setup of Balochistan, he said that the PTI was in a position to form a coalition government in Balochistan as well.
Meanwhile, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan Nawaf Ahmad Al-Maliki called on PTI chief Imran Khan at Mr Khan’s Banigala residence and congratulated him on behalf of the Saudi government for success in the general elections.

I don't think Imran Khan will be able to make the government. There is going to be a huge protest by the opposition parties and then there will be Free and Fair elections.

Best wishes to PTI and Imran Khan for the future. Certainly, the countries that had written off Imran Khan and PTI in the past in favor of PML-N, now recognize the PTI as a party with a popular mandate for the betterment of Pakistan.

Imran Khan should be pragmatic in selecting the coalition parties and partners for formation of Federal govt along with Punjab. Smaller parties and independents who are in large numbers are bound to demand ministries and easily be manipulated can hold the govt at ransom. It would most appropriate if PTI forms govt both at center and Punjab along with PPP which would be more stable and has a proven track record of being reliable partner in the past coalition govt with PMLN.

@RUMI - don't be so negative, as people of Pakistan have openly rejected corrupt mafia and their families and looking forward to have a new vision and approach to resolve our current political and financial mess left behind by both PMLN and PPP during the last 10 years. Here i am a great Indian fan of the cricket legend, the one and only, IMRAN KHAN, on his victory and very good chances of becoming the PM of Pakistan soon. He was a superb cricketer very versatile in every department of the game, great fast bowler, fine reliable and competent batsman, safe and good fielder even though not being too outstanding and above all, a superlative captain who made Pakistan a formidable force in his heydays as a cricketer. He had everything that a great cricketer should have - oodles of charisma with the extraordinary good looks, commanding personality and persona and above all, the intellect and intelligence that made him someone who one could not but admire and marvel at. I am sure that the way he led Pakistan so magnificently, he would do the same with his country Pakistan, a country that he is so passionate and proud off and transform its fortunes....I wish him the very best in this tough task ahead and i also wish that he takes good care of his health and security as well, knowing that politics in SOUTH ASIA is a volatile profession

Strong supporter of Pti but getting disappointed when hearing ch Pervaiz Elahi and Shah mehmood quereshi nominees for CM slot. Also Sheikh Rasheed as miniater of railway. People have voted for change not for these tried and tested.

They will get numbers, will make a CM, issue is how to govern Punjab Bureaucracy, which has found attractiveness in Company style governance and every post down to a clerk and constable is politicised, nepotism etc etc.
A very strong administrator is needed to take new policies implemented. Team is key.

Iman Khan has worked hard to rid the country of Mullahs, Jagirdars, Zaminndars and the like. The Bradari culture has been seriously dented. I see no reason for his success if he fulfils his campaign promises. Kick Asfandiyar Wali Khan, M K Achakzai, Zardari's, Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar and their likes. Best of luck to Imran Khan
