Our correspondents from parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tell us women are being discouraged from voting in some parts of the province.

Nowshehra PK 65: Nadir Guramani reports that women are not being allowed to vote.

Shangla and Kohistan: No women have voted in Shangla and Kohistan this morning. Correspondent Umar Bacha says the reason behind the low female turnout is the absence of a segregated polling station.

Note: Peshawar Bureau chief Ali Akbar says that all political parties, especially the religious ones, said in their political campaigns that women should be allowed to go vote. However, women in some areas have been forbidden to vote by local jirgas. These are segregated polling stations in various constituencies.
