KARACHI, June 5: The paramedical staffs working in government hospitals in Sindh has relaunched protest drive against non-approval of their demands regarding service structure etc. The President of Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association (PPSA) Sindh, Niaz Hussain Bhutto, said on Sunday that some 33,000 paramedical staff was working under Sindh Health Department alone, but they were being denied their service structure.

“We will hold protest demonstration in front of Karachi and Hyderabad Press Clubs on Monday, June 6. Protest demonstrations in other cities and towns will also be held”, said Mr Bhutto.

According to the schedule, demonstrations in Mutiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan districts will be held on June 7, Neushero Feroz, Nawabshah on 8th, Khairpur, Ghotki on 9th, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar on 10th, Tharparkar, Umerkot on 11th, Badin, Thatta on 13th, Karachi, Hyderabad, Mutiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan on 14th, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Neushero Feroz on 15th, Badin, Thatta, Dadu, Jamshoro, Larkana, Shahdadkot on 16th, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki on June 17 and finally demonstrations will be held at the press clubs of all cities across the province on June 18 wearing black armbands.

“Besides service structure for paramedical staff, we demand 25 per cent son quota in appointments, stopping forced transfers to other districts, TA/DA and petrol to vaccinators and malaria supervisors, permanent jobs to lady health workers, payment of salaries to the drivers of prime minister programme according to grades, adjustment of qualified paramedics against vacant posts, promotions to qualified paramedics in male nursing etc.,” he told.

“Now we are going to start the fourth phase of our protest. We have already held protest demonstrations in front of the press clubs in Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Shahdadkot, Dadu and Jamshoro,” Mr Bhutto added.

He recalled that talks were arranged with the paramedics by government at the chief minister house on December 18, 2004, but suggestion had not been implemented so far.—PPI
