Mamnoon concerned over Nawaz’s health

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday expressed concern over reports of poor health of Nawaz Sharif and directed caretaker Prime Minister retired Justice Nasirul Mulk to take care of the former prime minister.

According to a presidential spokesman, Mr Hussain telephoned Prime Minister Mulk and directed him to ensure proper medical treatment of Mr Sharif.

Mr Sharif is in Adiala jail after he was awarded a prison term by an accountability court in the Avenfield properties reference.

A press release issued by the presidency said: “President Mamnoon Hussain expressed concern over reports of bad health of Nawaz Sharif and talked to caretaker prime minister in this regard.”

AJK premier says caretakers will be responsible if anything wrong happens to Sharif

It said “the president also asked the prime minister to provide all required medical facilities to Nawaz Sharif”.

Meanwhile, Azad Jammu & Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider telephoned President Mamnoon and expressed concern over poor health of Nawaz Sharif.

“The caretaker government will be responsible if anything wrong happens to Nawaz Sharif,” the AJK prime minister asked the president.

Mr Haider said satisfactory steps had not been taken for providing proper health facilities to Mr Sharif.

A four-member medical board constituted by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences has carried out medical checkup of Mr Sharif in Adiala jail on Monday.

Highly inappropriate move by the president. What is he trying to show by "asking the pm to provide all required medical facilities to Nawaz Sharif" ? Score some points?? He should be impartial and not show his "loyalty" to Nawaz.

Please do bear in mind that NS is a not a political prisoner but a convicted criminal . Please show the same concern for other prisoners who are languishing in jails simply because they cannot afford to defend themselves against the powerful forces and seek justice because they cannot employ expensive lawyers.

Mr. Mamoon should be aware of the fact by now why Nawaz Sharif is in jail. The fact is that Nawaz Sharif has cared less about the financial health of the nation and his own health than what Mr. Mamoon is concerned about.

As a President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain should be concerned about the health of all Pakistanis in jail - all inmates should get equal facilities. Why is the whole of PML N concerned about the health of just one person, when there are thousands in jail getting miserable treatment?

Guys, my cousin was one of the doctors that examined this convicted criminal NS and my cousin tells me that there is nothing seriously wrong with NS health. He also told me that NS is being treated as a VIP in the jail as for his medical care is concerned - all at the expense of Pakistani tax payers. He also said that an average Pakistani citizen can only dream of the the sort of VIP medical care NS is getting in jail let alone another convicted criminal in Adiala jail.

This President must be the most ineffective one in the world. He got the position because he would not challenge the Sharif brothers. Nawaz is now a convict and should be treated as such. No special treatment should be given.

So, every Pakistani politician should seek medical treatment in the UK? Is that the only country in the World where you can get quality care? What about the 200 million wretched Pakistani souls who don't have such luxuries or a President who takes notice of their medical conditions? Who takes care of them?

I suggest that NS is sent to one of the public hospitals for treatment on an metro bus or orange train. That way he would be able to fully appreciate exactly what his government delivered in the last 5 years.

This is not fair at all, Ex PM treated like this.The whole world knows that this election is engineered to benefit only one party PTI. Regret Caretaker Govt is a complete failure. Govt don't know the repercussions in case if anything happens to NS. I am not from PML, just an ordinary citizen of Pakistan. Whoever is the Ex PM, Ex President must be given full respect.

These are kind of people who have ruined this country. It is a culture in Pakistan that if you know someone, your back is covered....it trickles down from the top. I fail to understand why people would even think of voting for this person NS who is responsible for rupee free fall. He knew it from the time Ishaq Dar took 1 billion dollars from Saudi Arabia to boost their reserves, he knew it when he was merely taking loans from imf and everywhere to boost reserves in order to give cosmetic rise to rupee. You do not need to be a quantum economist to understand this.

No doubt I agree there should be proper healthcare arrangements for former PM in the jail. My question is, such importance have been give to common prisoners who end of dying in the jails for not having adequate healthcare ?

Mr President I really appreciate your humanitarian gesture shown towards Nawaz but nevertheless let me dare to pen that you are the incumbent President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan but regretfully your exclusive concern about NS health in Adyala Jail ignoring the rest prisoners is not appreciated at all. Please issue another statement ordering that all prisoners be male or female or children be extended full medical care and anyone found neglecting any prisoner will be jailed > Ehsan hoga Mr President . Mr. President: Please do not worry for Nawaz Sharif. He is in good hand considering the fact that is a convicted hardcore criminal serving ten years prison time. The others do not have airconditioners, private cook and a daily visit by top physicians. This can only happen in Pakistan.

It's a good news that President known for being in hibernation all year round (except for few special occasions) has finally spoken out. However, it's an irony of Pakistan that he is showing his concern for a convicted criminal. Despite getting a hefty stipend from the public he never spoked a single word for them and now all he spoke is in favour of a convicted criminal who is mainly responsible for the current plight of Pakistanis.

These special privileges and perks must be stopped before Pakistan can progress. Same treatment for a common prisoner and a politician serving jail be administrated. NS is a high value convict but is a Pakistani citizen then why special treatment?
