KARACHI, June 4: Four-goal Asif Aslam helped Sindh cruise into the final of Inter-provincial under-17 hockey tournament after drubbing Islamabad 10-0 at the Hockey Club of Pakistan on Friday. Forward Asif put his team ahead by a brilliant solo goal in the 21st minute, and followed it up with another just two minutes later when he connected a corner into the net. Exactly four minutes later he went on to complete his hat trick off a penalty stroke to give his team a 3-0 lead.

He fired his fourth and last goal in the 31st minute by another solo effort. He single-handedly slammed all the four goals at the end of first half.

Sindh continued their domination in the second half.

Defender Rizwan Ali converted a penalty corner in the 40th minute. Midfielder Mohsin slammed another in the 43rd minute.

Rizwan struck again by converting another penalty corner in the 47th minute through a superb drag flick.

Islamabad looked helpless in the face of Sindh’s attacking game as right-half Adeel slammed home a double in the 52nd and the 56th minutes.

Syed Shahab scored the last goal for Sindh in the 61st minute to seal a thumping 10-0 victory.

In the second semifinal, tournament favourites Punjab outclassed NWFP 9-1 to confirm a birth with the in-form Sindh in the final.—PPI
