LAHORE, June 4: Seven wickets shared by leg-spinner Ahmad Butt and off-spinner Usman Malik helped East Zone Whites beat West Zone Whites by 102 runs inside one day in the PCB Inter-district U-19 cricket championship at the Moughalpura Institute ground on Saturday.

Set to score 195 to win, West Zone Whites failed to face the duo spin attack of Ahmad and Usman and were bundled out for 92 in 23.4 overs. Ahmad snared four wickets for 20 runs while Usman snapped up three wickets for 21 runs.

Earlier, batting first East Zone Whites were all out for 194 in 64.2 overs with Ahmad also excelling with the bat, remaining top scorer with 43, laced with five fours. Abid Ali was the next highest scorer with 41, hitting three boundaries.

For West Zone Whites leg-spinner Rana Sheroz and Awais Asif picked up three wickets each for 41 and 20 runs, respectively.

Four wickets by medium-pacer Muhammad Shahzad and three by Jamshed Ahmed guided North Zone Whites to a five-wicket win also inside one day against West Zone Blues at the Model Town Club ground. Shahzad paid 25 runs while Jamshed conceded 47 runs as West Zone Blues were skittled out for 182 in 34.1 overs.

Only Saadullah Ghauri (38, seven fours) and Raza Rehman (28, five fours) were the main scorers.

North Zone Whites romped home achieving the required target for the loss of five wickets in 45.5 overs.

Opener Farhan Alam (38, seven fours) and Sunny Irshad (33, four fours) were the top scorers for the winners. Despite a seven-wicket haul by off-spinner Wasim Ashraf North Zone got a fighting total of 254 against East Zone Blues at the Railways Stadium.

Wasim bowled 37.2 overs, including 10 maiden to concede 89 runs to earn an impressive figure.

From lower-order, Suleman Rana (67, eight fours) and Mohammad Shahram (49, five fours) with their 8th wicket stand of 124 runs rescued North Zone Blues from a disastrous position of 110-7.

By close of play East Zone Blues were 28 for two wickets in 10 overs.
