ABBOTTABAD: The police here have devised security plan for the polling day and divided Abbottabad district for this purpose into four sectors where 2,392 police officials, including 639 females, would be deployed, while two quick response force units will be at standby in the police lines.

In this regard, a meeting was held in the office of district police officer Abbas Majeed Marwat on Sunday which discussed the law and order situation with regard to the general elections. The meeting was attended by SP investigation, commander Elite Force and other officials of Abbottabad district.

SP investigation Aziz Khan and additional SP Sonia Shamroz were assigned the task of maintenance of law and order, while SP Malik Ejaz would supervise and ensure smooth traffic flow in the district on July 25.

The district was further divided into 12 sub-sectors controlled by SHOs of the respective police stations as in the total 52 union councils as many as 750 polling stations will be established. Of these, 160 have been declared most sensitive and 50 sensitive polling stations where extra deployment of police will be ensured.

Mr Marwat has directed the police officials to keep a close liaison with the 1122, hospital authorities and other law enforcing agencies.

Meanwhile, the Water Supply and Sanitation Company cut off 915 illegal water connections in Abbottabad city.

According to a press release issued here on Sunday,the campaign would continue to sever all illegal connections in the city.
