ISLAMABAD: The Met Office on Saturday forecast rain and thundershowers with gusty winds in most of central and northern Punjab and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on July 25.

“Monsoon currents of moderate intensity are expected to penetrate the upper and central parts of the country from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal on Sunday,” the Met Office spokesman said.

The areas which will receive rain are Lahore, Sargodha, Peshawar, Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Kalat divisions, Fata, Kashmir, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, D.G. Khan, Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan and Zhob divisions.

However, the situation would be totally different in southern parts of the country as hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail in Sindh, Balochistan and other plain areas of the country.

The satellite imagery at the website of the Met Office showed presence of heavy cloud over north west as well as south east India on Saturday.

Clouds over the north-west are expected to enter Pakistan in the wee hours of Sunday to bring scattered rainfall in central and northern parts of the country.

There will be a gap on July 24 and by that time another batch of clouds will enter the country from the east bringing pleasant change in weather on July 25.

Hot and humid conditions dominated Rawalpindi and Islamabad with mercury reaching to 36°C but the feeling of heat was higher due to humidity, whereas the nighttime temperature was at 27°C.
