ISLAMABAD, June 4: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has directed all authorities concerned to coordinate their activities and expedite work on linking Gwadar seaport with rest of the country. The prime minister issued these directives while presiding over a meeting held here to review progress on Gwadar seaport, says a statement issued by the PM’s House.

During the meeting, it was agreed that an export processing zone would be established at Gwadar. The ministry of industries will identify a site for the purpose in collaboration with the Balochistan government. The step aims at encouraging industrialization and providing more job opportunities to the people in the province so that their standard of living could be improved, the statement said.

The meeting was told that as a part of overall development of Gwadar, a site was being developed for construction of a new airport equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The National Highway Authority chairman briefed the meeting on the construction of roads linking Gwadar with rest of the country. On this, the prime minister emphasized the need for quality construction and early completion of work.
