Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and it's newly-merged areas have received a warning from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that strict action will be taken if women voters are prevented from casting the ballot on July 25.

The commission cautioned against preventing women from voting that day, as it will bring into effect section 9 of the Elections Act 2017 which gives the ECP power to declare a poll void in that particular area.

The individuals found responsible will not only be fined for the crime, but also put behind bars, said ECP.

According to the polling scheme released by the ECP, there are a total of 6.61 million female voters in the province.
