KARACHI, June 4: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the forthcoming local bodies elections will be contested with the collaboration of all the allied parties. He said the parties would be given tickets on the basis of their vote banks in their respective areas.

Addressing a public meeting in Gadap Town on Friday night, the chief minister said that besides awarding of tickets, decision about election of nazims would also be taken at a joint meeting of the parties.

He heard the Gadap people’s grievances relating to water, power, gas, education, health, employment, and regularization of villages as highlighted by Abdul Latif Rind, General Secretary of the PML Gadap.

The chief minister directed the EDO Higher Education to prepare the SNE for the college planned to be established in a vacant building in the town.

He also held out the assurance that immediate steps would be taken for water supply to the town from the canal passing through the area or any other available source.

Regarding regularization of villages, he said that a survey of villages was being conducted and those existing since 1985 would be regularized. It would also be ensured that the areas did not go into the hands of land mafia.

Taking notice of non-availability of doctors and medicines at a local hospital, Dr Arbab directed the DCO to take immediate steps in this regard.—APP
