At least five people have sustained minor injuries after the stage at an election gathering of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) in Safi tehsil of Mohmand tribal district collapsed.
The stage reportedly gave way because of overcrowding. Senators Sirajul Haq and Mushtaq Ahmed were among several prominent leaders who were on the stage at the time of the collapse, but they remained unharmed.
The five injured have been shifted to a local hospital for treatment.
