GUJRAT: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address a public rally in Lalamusa today (Tuesday) as a part of his party’s election campaign.

Lalamusa is the hometown of PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira and former provincial finance minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira. Both the cousins are again in the run for NA-70 and PP-33, respectively.

The PPP candidates who are contesting the election from 10 other constituencies of Gujrat district have also been directed to move the workers and supporters for Lalamusa public meeting of the party chairman.

This will be the first-ever public rally of Bilawal in the Gujrat district while he is the first leader of national stature who will hold such a public rally in the district as none of the main leaders from other mainstream parties have yet visited the district.

The PPP rally is scheduled to be held at General Bus Stand along the GT Road at around 6pm where as per the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) code of conduct the main stage for the public meeting is to be arranged by the district administration.

PPP Gujrat Secretary General Dr Zahid Zaheer told Dawn his party had already got permission from the office of Deputy Commissioner Tauseef Dilshad Kathana for the election-related activity.
