HYDERABAD, Jan 9: A strike was observed outside the press club here on Wednesday to protest against the registration of a false case against the editor and executive editor of daily Kawish and harassment and victimisation of the working journalists in interior Sindh.

A large number of working journalists, workers associated with newspapers industry, hawkers, including the central president, All Pakistan Akhbar Farooshan Federation, Syed Afzal Ahmed Shah, and political activists took part in the protest.

A general body meeting of the press club was also held in which it was decided to hold a public meeting on Thursday to highlight the problems of the newsmen of interior Sindh.

The zonal organizer, Muttaheda Qaumi Movement, Salahud Din, Jamat-i-Islami Ameer, Hyderabad, Sheikh Shaukat Ali, and others have criticised the harassment of the working journalists.

Our correspondent from Nawabshah, Sanghar and Mithi report that hunger strikes were also observed in the cities to protest against the registration of the false case against editor and executive editor of Kawish.

Our Khairpur correspondent adds that over 200 journalists, lawyers, writers and notables also took out a protest rally.

The Mirpurkhas correspondent has also reported that hundreds of journalists, NGOs and elected representatives took out a rally and raised slogans against Hyderabad police.
