PESHAWAR, June 2: The Corps Commander, General Safdar Hussein, has said that the Phase-I of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Cadet College will cost about Rs173 million. President General Pervez Musharraf had announced the establishment of the college in February 2000.

The college, which is to be constructed in Swabi district, is named after the Kargil hero whose feat of valour and gallantry had been acknowledged even by the enemy, said a press release of the Inter-Services Public Relations, Peshawar, issued on Thursday.

The corps commander, during visit to the site of the cadet college in Swabi on Thursday, said that the college would be a modern educational institution with academic blocks, a library, laboratories, a hostel and residential area for staff members, said the press release.

The college will start functioning with about 300 cadets from January 2007.

The corps commander, who is also the chairman of the board of governors of the cadet college, said the institution would impart quality education.
