TAXILA: Former interior minister and estranged PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Monday that if former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had taken his advice not to confront state institutions he would not be facing his present fate.

Commenting on the verdict on the Avenfield reference at a public meeting at Wah Cantonment, Mr Khan said he asked the former premier time and again to restrain from confronting state institutions.

He added that the former chief minister had upheld that there should not be any confrontation with state institutions, particularly the judiciary.

Mr Khan said anyone who wanted to visit his constituency could do so, adding that he has served his constituents for the last 34 years. He asked his detractors to point out any nook or cranny of the area where there were no signs of his service.

“A lot of work has yet to be done for the country’s development,” he said.

He said he was hopeful of his victory on July 25, and had received a heartening response to his campaign.

“I have received a warm response so far and will be contesting from four constituencies,” he said.
