ISLAMABAD, June 2: M. Ismail Khan from Pakistan has been elected as Asia-Pacific representative on the six-member board of directors of Mountain Forum for three years, says a press release of the forum. The online election process was conducted by the Asia-Pacific Mountain Network (APMN) and the Asia-Pacific Node of the Mountain Forum on May 17-27.

Mr Khan will represent Asia-Pacific at the Mountain Forum board meeting scheduled on June 22-24 at Chambery, France.

Ismail Khan, a journalist and development expert from Gilgit-Baltistan, won votes of 249 individual members and 32 organizations from Asia.

Talking to Dawn, he said: “I will do my best as a representative of Asia-Pacific region to strengthen the Forum and work towards networking and advocating for sustainable development and conservation of mountain’s human and natural resources”, he added.
