Has paan become a part of the election campaigning in Karachi?

After Shahbaz Sharif's remarks about Karachiites’ paan-eating habits did not go well with the city's denizens, MQM-P's Farooq Sattar used the betel leaf to issue a response to the PML-N chief, who is vying for a victory in Karachi this time around in the polls.

Now, it's PTI leader Ali Zaidi's turn.

In a video shared on social media, Zaidi — who is contesting from Karachi's NA-244 — can be seen with legendary batsman Javed Miandad, who wishes the PTI contestant good luck in the polls and feeds him a paan — and then another one for PTI Chief Imran Khan.

While we don't know if Zaidi will actually give a paan to Khan, one thing is for sure: the betel leaf is having a moment this campaign season and the paan shops must be loving it.
