SAHIWAL: After the Lahore High Court disqualified PML-N’s two-time MNA Rana Zahid Hussain and barred him from contesting the elections for NA-146 Arifwala City, his son Rana Iradat will be the party’s candidate in the constituency.

Iradat, 24, had won a rural union council chairmanship election during the previous local government election. He is a member of the Pakpattan District Council.

Rana Zahid’s opponent Talha Saeed had filed a case against him for possessing a fake degree. A Lahore High Court double bench is said to have disqualified the PML-N leader for life.

After the disqualification, the position of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Amjad Joya appeared stronger.

Meanwhile, PTI supporters celebrated Rana Zahid’s disqualification by distributing sweets and dancing in various parts of the city.
