GILGIT: Renowned musician Imtiaz Karim died of cardiac arrest in Karimabad Hunza on Thursday. He was 40.

The deceased flute master is survived his widow and two sons. He was considered one of the pioneers, who introduced flute music in Gilgit-Baltistan. His music was popular among the people. His music was included in the albums of famous singers like Jabar Khanand Shahid Qalandar.

Ghazi Karim, a friend of the deceased, told Dawn that Imtiaz Karim performed at national and international level. He said that he performed in China in 2010 and in Australia on Pakistan Independence Day function in 2016. Ghazi said that his four music albums had been released.
