MMA strike in Karachi

Published June 2, 2005

KARACHI, June 1: Though largely peaceful, a strike called by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal brought life in several parts of the city to a standstill on Wednesday. The strike was called in protest against the killing of a local leader of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Monday’s suicide attack on a mosque and desecration of Holy Quran at the Guantanamo Bay prison.
