PMA demand

KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Centre and Karachi on Tuesday demanded of the government to exempt medical personnel, including doctors and nurses from performing election duties, otherwise, the health delivery system will collapse on polling day.

The demand was raised during a high-level meeting of both sections of the PMA at the PMA House here.

The meeting showed concern over government’s decision of taking election duties from doctors.

They said the doctors already performed the most honourable duty of saving human lives. Their responsibilities will even be higher on election day in case of any emergency, therefore, it is absolutely unwise to place them at polling stations instead of hospitals.
