PESHAWAR: Speakers at a seminar paid tributes to late social worker and human rights activist, Idress Kamal.

They stressed the need that people belonging to different segments of society should work for restoration of durable peace in the region to bring an end to bloodshed, unrest and poverty.

The event was arranged at Peshawar Press Club in connection with the fifth death anniversary of Idrees Kamal, which was addressed by political and social figures.

The speakers recalled the services rendered by the deceased social worker for restoration of peace as head of Amn Tehreek despite threats from the terrorists. He also played active role to help the affected people of 2010 flash floods, internally displaced persons of Swat and other areas.

They said Mr Kamal, who was provincial general secretary of National Party, also raised voice for downtrodden and destitute people.

Mukhtiar Bacha, the provincial president of National Party, urged the people of different sections of the society to avoid polarisation and join hands to work for restoration of peace on sustainable basis.

Awami Workers Party general secretary Shakeel Waheedullah said it was duty of different segments of the society to avoid differences on minor issues and work for development of the society irrespective of their political affiliations.
