MURREE: The office-bearers of the PPP in Murree and Kotli Sattiyan on Thursday rejected party’s nominations for national and provincial assembly seats and announced their decision to resigns from the posts.
Speaking at a press conference, PPP Murree chapter president Nazir Abbasi Advocate, general secretary Mazhar Abbasi, president UC Tret and former member district council Atiq Abbasi, UC Sehr Bagla president Waseem Abbasi, UC Darya Gali president Akhlaq Abbasi, UC Mussiyari president Nazir Abbasi, district vice president Tabassum Satti, PPP social media wing Rawalpindi president Ashiq Abbasi and other office-bearers announced their resignations.
They said when Murtaza Satti left the PPP and joined the PTI there was a dearth of leadership in the party and Asif Shafiq Satti worked hard to unite the workers and boost their morale in the constituency.
They said former president Asif Ali Zardari had promised with the office-bearers at a meeting that tickets would be awarded to party workers recommended by the local organisations.
They claimed that initially Asif Shafiq Satti and Nazir Abbasi Advocate were told that they would be awarded the party tickets but at the eleventh hours the NA ticket was given to Mehreen Anwar Raja due to a conspiracy by some elements in the party.
They said Ms Raja had even not applied for the ticket and never attended any party function during the last many years after she completed her tenure as a minister of state in the last PPP government.
They appealed to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari to intervene and order an independent survey to determine the actual position of the candidates and then award the ticket to a deserving candidate for better results in the elections.
