The never-ending MQM drama, which has now seen a number of drop scenes, finally appears to be concluding as the party's former chief Farooq Sattar has now announced that he has requested the Khalid Maqbool-led Coordination Committee to allow him to not contest elections.
Announcing the development in a press conference, Sattar insisted that the MQM-P is united and would contest the election under the 'kite' symbol.
He also said that he would not insist on getting tickets for the faction of the party led by himself, and would leave the decision entirely to the Coordination Committee.
The move could come as a relief to MQM-P supporters used to voting for the 'kite'. But with the MQM-London's boycott of the polls and other players flexing their muscles, the party will probably only be able to make a noticeable impact this time around if Farooq bhai's claims of it being united are actually true.
Sattar was earlier cleared to contest the polls from NA-245.
