QUETTA, May 31: Three women and two children were killed in a landmine explosion near Duki, 200km northeast of here on Tuesday. Six other people were injured, two of them seriously. “The victims belonged to one family,” a senior official of the Duki administration told this correspondent over telephone.

According to sources, Mullah Abdul Aziz was going to Duki from Luni in a rented pick-up with his 11-member family. When the pickup reached the Bagot area, some 32km off Duki, it hit a landmine planted in the middle of the road, which exploded. As a result, the three women and two children were killed and six others, including Mr Aziz and his brother, were injured.
