KASUR: Over a dozen PML-N workers were deprived of their cash and mobile phones by pickpockets at a workers’ convention held at a wedding hall in Allahabad on Tuesday night.

PML-N local leaders and candidates for NA- 139 Rana Muhammad Ishaq, PP-177 Sheikh Alaodin and PP-178 Ahsan Raza held the convention and delivered speeches regarding their election strategy and their plans for the area.

During the proceedings, some pickpockets used their sleigh of hands and stole mobile phones and cash from more than a dozen people’s pockets.

At the near end of the convention, one of the victims raised alarm when he touched his pocket. Soon, several others, including Union Council Nazim Rana Abbas, Javid Khan, Abdul Rasheed Mughal, Mohsin Ansari, Munir Ahmed, Jamil Ahmed and Muhammad Ali, joined the chorus.

Candidates, however, left the venue without addressing the issue.

A worker said it was a workers’ convention where general public was not allowed.
