KARACHI, May 31: The two educational boards of the city have announced to put off theory and practical examinations which were scheduled to be conducted on June 1. A Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, circular said that owing to the conditions prevailing in the city and possible non-availability of transport all the examinations of Science and Home Economics groups, which were to be held on Wednesday, had been postponed.
The controller of examinations, Prof Mohammad Amin Khalid, said that new dates for the postponed papers would be announced shortly, while the rest of examinations would be held on June 2 and onwards according to the schedule.
In the meantime, the BIE did not conduct any examination on Tuesday as well. However, a number of candidates reached the examination centres as they remained unaware about the late night changes made by the board due to improper publicity.
When contacted the controller of examinations of the Board of Secondary education, Karachi, Mohammad Salim Khan, said that classes IX and X practical exams pertaining to SSC annual examinations would not be held on Wednesday.
He said that the decision to postpone the examination was taken in view of the hardship of the parents and students.
The postponed practical exams would now be held on June 6.
In the meantime, a BSE notification said that the postponed SSC Practical examinations, 2005 of May 31 shall now be conducted on June 4.
It was further said that the SSC annual practical exams (science group) for the leftover candidates of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Studies would commence on June 7 at six centres.
The programme of the examination in question has already been mailed to candidates concerned at their mailing address and in case of non-receipt of the said programme till June 3 candidates should call on the board’s office in room no 56.
The board said that any of the regular students who could not appear in the practical exams so far should submit application, along with a photocopy of admit card, in this regard to the board up to June 3.
