KARACHI: A 21-year-old woman was kidnapped and allegedly raped in Gulshan-i-Hadeed within the remit of the Steel Town police station, officials said on Thursday.

According to SSP Investigation (Malir) Abid Husain Qaimkhani, the woman along with her family was standing near a park in phase-II of Gulshan-i-Hadeed on Wednesday at 7.30pm when three men travelling in a car kidnapped her.

According to the complainant, the father of the victim, one of the suspects, who was their neighbour, allegedly raped her. Later on, they abandoned her near her home in Gulshan-i-Hadeed.

The Steel Town police early on Thursday morning registered an FIR (161/2018) under Sections 367-A, 376-B and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested two nominated suspects while efforts were under way to arrest the third accomplice.

The SSP said that the woman’s medical examination was carried out at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors confirmed that she had been raped. The police also seized the car used in the incident.
