SHIKARPUR: An elderly man died and three of his close relatives suffered serious wounds in a murderous attack in Khairuddin Jaffari village in the jurisdiction of Sultankot police station, 50 kilometres from here, on Thursday.

SHO Mohammad Shahban Kumbhar told this reporter that a group of assailants attacked the house of Khairuddin Jaffari and opened indiscriminate fire on the inmates, killing Khairuddin, 60, on the spot and wounding his close relatives Hafeezullah, Mohammad Nawaz and Dodo. They escaped after the attack while firing in the air, he said.

He said the attack was an offshoot of a running dispute between two groups of Jaffari tribe over a piece of agricultural land in the village and the assailants were said to be close relatives of the victims.
