Before reading Huma Yousuf’s article “NOTA option” published in this newspaper on june 4, 2018. I asked myself: why should I vote? Later I found myself not alone to think like this, because the majority of youth in our country posses distrust politicians and owing to this less than 40 per cent of population are registered voters and 50 per cent of them do not bother to stand in queues for hours to vote.

I found the aforementioned article very informative to answer my queries. It, however, points to the dire need of reforms in voting practice.

In order to increase the number of participants in polls the Election Commission of Pakistan should include the NOTA option in the electoral system. People like me will show their opinion that they do not have any faith in the candidates on the ballot.
