LAHORE: Mr. Yahia Bukhtiar (Baluchistan), Deputy President, All-India Muslim Students’ Federation, has issued the following statement:

“I have read a press report that His Majesty’s Government are contemplating to introduce reforms in Baluchistan. In my opinion, it will be a very wise and most opportune step on the part of His Majesty’s Government, for Baluchistan is no longer a backward province. The people of this province have been kept in the dark for about three-quarters of a century. Probably it has been the deliberate policy of the Government to discourage education here. Even the members of all the Municipal Boards of Baluchistan towns, including Quetta, are nominated by the Political Agents of Baluchistan.

The Muslim League has awakened political consciousness in the people. They now realise that their political rights have been denied to them for a very long time and they are not given any chance to participate in the affairs of their own Government.
