TAXILA, May 29: Local police have failed to trace the culprits who supplied poisonous liquor which claimed life of four persons in Taxila last month. Four persons were killed while two others lost eyesight after consuming locally-made liquor in separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station.

Hospital sources confirmed that Rasheed, a resident of Dhabian village, and Javaid Khan, a resident of Bilal Colony, died had before receiving any medical treatment. In another incident, Mehmood of Phalian Mohallah and Pervaiz Akhtar (55) died at a local hospital, while their two fellows lost eyesight.

Relatives of the deceased said they had purchased liquor from a person near Timber market in the jurisdiction of Cantonment police station. Sub Divisional Police Officer (Taxila-Wah Cantonment circle) Ijaz Khan, when contacted, said the liquor consumed by the deceased was brought to Taxila from Haripur via Hassanabdal.

He said a few culprits involved in the case had been identified, but we were keeping their names secret.
