GHALANAI: Candidates of different political parties, including PTI, JUI-F, JI, PML-N, ANP and PPP and several independents on Thursday submitted their nomination papers for contesting July 25 elections.

They included Sajid Khan, Nisar Mohmand, Maulana Ghulam Sadiq, Mohammad Saeed Khan, Zar Khan Safi, Azmat Khan, Dr Farooq Afzal and Israel Khan besides independent candidates like ex-MNA Bilal Rehman, Abbas Rehman, former Senator Abdur Rehman, Noman Faqir, Imdadullah and others.

An official at the election commission office said that they had issued nomination papers to 25 people for NA-42 constituency of Mohmand Agency, while at least 20 candidates submitted their nomination papers on Thursday for contesting from the same constituency.

According to the returning officer of Mohmand Agency, there are 255,522 registered voters, including 96,679 women, in Mohmand region.

As many as 187 polling stations will be established for the elections, which include 69 in Upper Mohmand sub-division, 82 in Lower Mohmand sub-division and 36 in the border area of Biazai sub-division.

All the political parties and independent candidates have started their election campaign in Mohmand region.
