SAHIWAL, May 28: A constable sustained serious injuries during an ‘encounter’ with proclaimed offenders here on Friday night at Chak 107/7-R. Reports said a Mamun Kanjan police party, headed by its SHO Muhammad Idrees, raided the hideout of POs Ali Sher and Abbas Baghola. On seeing the police, the outlaws and their 12 relatives opened fire as a result of which constable Muhammad Sarwar sustained serious injuries. However, the Harappa police arrested eight people after an hour-long ‘encounter.’

They have been identified as Shahmand, Noti, Muhammad Younas, Aslam, Muhammad Yaqoob, Riaz, Nawab and Haq Nawaz. Ali Sher and Abbas Baghola managed to escape.
