SHEIKHUPURA, May 27: The district revenue officer has issued show-cause notices to four deputy district officers (revenue) for showing negligence in the recovery of outstanding dues, including agricultural tax, abiana, loans etc. At a meeting on Friday, DRO Anwar Jalil directed DDROs and the other staff that the dues worth Rs1.5 billion should be recovered from defaulters by June-end.

Sheikhupura tehsil DDRO S.D. Khalid, Ferozewala’s Noorin Bashir, Nankana Sahib’s Najamul Hasan Naqvi and Safdarabad’s Chaudhry Mumtaz Ahmad were also present.

After the meeting, he told press that the revenue powers of naib tehsildar would be withdrawn if they failed to show a satisfactory performance.

He said even influential defaulters would not be spared and all dues would be recovered from them. If any defaulter failed to pay his dues, a criminal case would be registered against him.

The DRO said a strict action would be taken against those officials who would fail to meet the target. While those who would complete the recoveries in time would be awarded cash prizes.
