KARACHI: Already through to their maiden knockout berth, Qasmi Gymkhana continued their magnificent run in the 33rd Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Cricket Festival for the Omar Associates Trophy with a massive 112-run defeat of Mateen Enterprises here on Sunday.

Put into bat in the Group ‘C’ game at the Karachi Gymkhana Ground, Qasmi Gymkhana amassed 199-1 with opener Akhtar Mohammad bludgeoning 122 from only 64 balls with the aid of 13 fours and seven sixes.

Bilal Irshad, nephew of Pakistan batting legend Mohammad Yousuf, contributed 67 off 54 balls with eight fours and one six while sharing an unbroken second-wicket partnership of 196 with man-of-the-match Akhtar.

Mateen Gymkhana, in reply, crashed to 87 all out in 17 overs with leg-spinner Hasan Sardar claiming four wickets for 22 runs as Qasmi completed their league round with three straight victories.

Meanwhile, Omar CC completed a 10-wicket thrashing of Acme Technologies in the Group ‘B’ match later in the afternoon. Man-of-the-match Faraz Ahmed khan (4-9 in 3.3 overs) and skipper Saad Nasim (4-5 in 2) sent Acme hurtling to 52 all out in 14.3 overs.

Omar CC knocked off the required runs in just four overs with Sahibzada Farhan striking five boundaries and one six in a 12-ball 30 while Usman Khan hit a 12-ball 26 with three fours and a brace of sixes.
