BAHAWALPUR, May 25: MMA’s deputy parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar will contest for the Bahawalpur district nazim’s slot. Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Punjab’s JI Naib Amir Dr Akhtar said that he would contest the elections from the platform of Awami Ittehad. He was of the view that the proposed Awami Ittehad would mainly comprise component parties of the MMA.
He demanded that the government should also hold the local government elections on party basis. He said the government was afraid to hold the LG elections on party basis as the ruling coalition apprehended its defeat.
