Traders support strike call

KOHAT, May 25: The local business community has decided to support a protest call given by the Jamaat-i-Islami for Friday against the desecration of the holy Quran by US interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay detention centre. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Mushtarika Markets Association, Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bazaar and Sarafa unions and central Tajir Grand Alliance. Hafiz Jalil presided over the meeting.

The participants decided to observe a complete strike and gather at the Zargaran Square at 9am on Friday. In case of any attempt by the government to stop them from holding protest the timings would be changed but protest would be held at all cost.

They constituted four committees to contact transporters, teachers, lawyers and rickshaw union leaders and invite them for the protest.
