SWABI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser said on Tuesday that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak would inaugurate the Swat Motorway on May 15.

He said that completion of the Swat Motorway was another achievement of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government.

Talking to this scribe here on Tuesday, Mr Qaiser said that the inauguration ceremony would be held at Capt Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Interchange, Swabi, on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway.

Qaiser terms it a major achievement of provincial government

“The PTI leaders are proud to construct the Swat Motorway from the government’s own resources and consider it a big achievement of their provincial government. With the inauguration of Swat Motorway, trade and business activities would pick up across the region,” he said.

The chief minister would be accompanied by the Frontier Works Orginisation officials, ministers and leaders of various political parties.

Frontier Works Orginisation is the executing agency of Swat Motorway project, which has been completed according to the plan, reducing the distance between Swat and rest of the country and facilitating the people’s mobility and transportation of commodities.

Mr Qaiser claimed that the Frontier Works Orginisation officials had already said that the project would be completed by mid May.

However, it has been learnt that construction work would continue on some parts of the motorway even after its inauguration.

MPA Abdul Karim, who joined PTI a few days ago, said that the chief minister would visit his native town, Tordher, on Thursday (tomorrow) and address a public meeting.

It has been learnt that he had left Qaumi Watan Party and joined PTI under an agreement that he would be given the party ticket for PK-45, Swabi-III.

The local leaders said that joining of PTI by Mr Karim had strengthened its position in the area.

They claimed that they would win most of the six provincial assembly and two National Assembly seats of the district.
