NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak stressed on Tuesday that Pakistan could not progress rapidly unless corruption was eradicated from every department of the government.

Addressing public meetings in Nowshera Kalan, Dagi Jadeed and Dagi Qadeem here, he maintained: “We believe that the country cannot move forward and progress fast if corruption is not rooted out form the society.”

Mr Khattak said now people could not be deceived through hollow slogans and that parties like ANP, PPP, PML-N and JUI-F would face defeat in the upcoming general elections in the country.

He said former chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti could not meet with people due to bad performance of his party when in government. He said the ANP leadership could not hold public meetings even during their party’s government, but now they were holding meetings without any fear.

He said that PPP had looted the people in the name of ‘Roti, Kapra and Makan’. He said that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was only interested in remaining in power corridors and he had no interest in promoting Islam.

Mr Khattak insisted that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf would sweep the next elections in all the provinces and the centre. He said Pakistan could not progress without eradicating corruption.

The chief minister claimed that his party had fulfilled all the promises it had made with the people prior to the last general elections, saying a merit policy had been adopted in the province and that all kind of corruption and commissions had been ended.

He said that political parties plundered the national exchequer for their self-interest and never bothered to think collectively for the country’s development.

Mr Khattak said his government had utilised limited resources of the province to the maximum. He added that his government faced various challenges when it came into power but now it had ensured that every department performed to the maximum to benefit the citizens.

He said that the PTI would again form the government in the province on the basis its performance.

The gathering was also addressed by MNA Imran Khattak, district nazim Liaqat Kahttak, minister for excise and taxation Mian Jamshaiduddin and others.

CRIMINAL WATCH WING OPENS: Regional police chief Mohammad Alam Shinwari on Tuesday inaugurated the Nowshera police’s first Criminal Watch Wing which will keep vigil on criminal elements through the use of latest technology.

On the occasion, Mr Shinwari appreciated the efforts of DPO Nowshera for launching the CWW, the first of its kind in the province.

He said the latest technology would help streamline the police’s investigation process.
