Nawaz, Maryam set to appear in accountability court tomorrow upon return from UK

Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz will appear before the accountability court on Monday upon their return from London.
In a tweet on Sunday, Maryam confirmed reaching London's Heathrow Airport to depart for Pakistan.
An accountability court on Friday had granted a one-day exemption to Nawaz and Maryam from personal appearance in the Avenfield Apartments reference, while rejecting their applications seeking exemption till April 27.
Maryam along with her father has been in the UK since early this week to see her mother Kulsoom Nawaz who is undergoing treatment in London. She retweeted a post on April 20 that stated: “A daughter cannot look after her ailing mother and the thrice-elected prime minister cannot take care of his sick wife”.
Earlier that same day, she had tweeted: “Ami being taken for radiotherapy. Has become weak & frail due to excessive vomiting. Can’t walk or move unaided. Prayers needed. Thank you.”
Responding to questions in London on Saturday, Nawaz told the media that doctors had informed them that surgery would be done if cancer reappeared. “Findings after radiotherapy will be compared to ascertain if surgical intervention is required or not,” he said.

Nawaz had filed an application seeking permission to be with his wife in London and settle all her medical affairs before returning to Pakistan and re-joining the trial, which he sought to do by next Friday, April 27.
Opposing the plea for seven-day exemption, NAB’s special prosecutor Afzal Qureshi said that one of the applicants had previously attended a public gathering after being exempted from personal appearance before the accountability court for one day.
According to the prosecutor, both applicants have ample time to settle the medical matters before the next date of trial proceedings.
The accountability court has summoned the prosecution witness, Wajid Zia, for recording his testimony in the Al-Azizia reference on Monday.

“..Good byes are always hard..” yes Maryam Safdar, only if your father built few decent hospitals in Pakistan in his 30 years rule, you wouldn’t have say good bye to your dear mother temporarily. Just think of hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis who had to say good bye to their dear relatives for ever due to a complete lack of medical care in Pakistan. Maryam Safdar you are being selfish and opportunistic.

Sorry for that but why Pakistan dont have ebough treatment hospitals ? 2 decades of PMLN in punjab but no hospital to treat. What about treatment of a poor person in country. Also why they did not go for treatment in Shaukat Khanam ? Because they dont want benefit to PTI. They playing politics on this....

35 years of total control over Punjab, access to 65% national resources, prime minister thrice and you failed to build one hospital worthy for you to get treatment for yourself, family and cronies.
Mrs Shariff has lymphoma which is chronic illness which will exacerbate as required by the political temperature of the country.

They had NO other option but to appear in NAB courts to defend their corruption charges. Simply, I say to both NS and his daughter, present evidence of your assets and how you purchased overseas properties. And, by doing so, if your assets are earned through proper means and you have paid appropriate income taxes, then why worry, you will be free to go any where!
But, as it is said that there is no fire without smoke, and high profile criminals and money launders prefer to go to jail rather then admitting their crimes. It would be miracle, if Nawaz Sharif and his family will admit their corrupt practices, and how they increased their assets many times!

They have run from the judicial system in the past and therefore should not be granted exemption. The political world has used the medical excuse for too long. Agha Khan and Shoukat khanum have the best US trained oncologist and all the protocols here are same which are followed world over my daughter was suffering from Hodgkin lymphoma and I wanted to take her to USA but when I got the treatment compared I was told it’s the same, so no point of going abroad, this is all scripted drama and dragging the sick woman into it to get sympathy vote very shameful on behalf of husband and daughter.

@WARRIs - Nawaz was never PM for 30 years and this is false. He has been PM thrice but was never allowed to complete his term. Do you think any PM can work freely if most of the time he is trying that his government is not dismissed on flimsy reasons? Also, neither defence nor foreign or interior ministry is in hand of elected government. No PM or country can progress in such situation.

Many poor patients die as they cannot afford surgery and post operative care expenses, , others die because they don't have money to buy medicines. Always be thankful. These NAB cases should be concluded soon.

Never completed five years; every politician has different prority. Instead of hurling accusations vote him out. His priority was roads and infrastructure, while Ik has education and hospitals, it is people decide who should run the government. Once government formed it had to be allowed fiunction. Ik did not let him work through dhetnad and agitation.
