GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan government has cancelled promotions of 21 police officers in compliance with the judgment of GB Supreme Appellate Court.

In first week of this month, the court had suspended all out of turn promotions of police officials in the region. Issuing a short order in a suo motu notice of illegal promotions in GB police department, Chief Judge Supreme Appellate Court Rana Shamim had ordered reversal of the promotions.

The police officials who were beneficiary of the promotions have been reverted to their original ranks.

According a press release issued by GB services, general administration and cabinet department here on Friday, in compliance with the judgment of GB Supreme Appellate Court issued on April 5, and recommendations of GB home and prisons department on April 18, the competent authority is pleased to withdraw notifications of promotions of police officials from BS-17 and above made from 2010 onwards.
