PESHAWAR, May 21: The NWFP government will make efforts to promote tourism, increase sports and cultural activities and renovate historical places in the province and provide resources to the departments concerned as well approach the centre for financial support to achieve these goals.

These decisions were unveiled at a meeting held here on Saturday with Senior and Finance Minister Sirajul Haq in the chair on budget consultations.

The meeting reviewed the requirements of the tourism, sports and culture department for next financial year.

It discussed the setting up of an endowment fund for welfare of talented players after establishing a ‘provincial sports foundation’ with an allocation of Rs20 million.

The meeting discussed implementation of the next phases of sports complexes at Hayatabad and Regi Lalma township, construction and expansion of gymnasiums and playgrounds for cricket, hockey, football and volleyball as well as swimming pools and sports complexes at Bannu and Kohat.
