SAHIWAL, May 21: Students of the Government Vocational Training Institute on Saturday staged a demonstration against the expulsion of 10 students and shifting of institute’s campus to Farid Town. Wearing black armbands, the protesting students marched on Farid Town Road and staged a sit-in outside the offices of District Nazim Rai Hasan Nawaz and DCO Hameed Amjad Warraich.

They demanded suspension of principal Tanveer Hameed and payment of Rs500 each per month stipend/scholarship to some 300 female students for the previous seven months.

They vowed to continue their protest demonstrations if action was not taken against the principal. They also threatened to march up to the Governor’s House if their demands were not met.

LOOTED: Four armed bandits looted a movie-maker shop in Khokha Bazaar here on Friday evening.

Armed bandits entered the shop of Mansab Ali, held him hostage, collected three movie mixing cameras valuing Rs180,000 and Rs28,700 in cash and fled.

City police have registered a case.
