SUKKUR, May 19: More than 60 suspects have been arrested following the killing of six people by armed men in the city on Wednesday. DPO Aftab Halepoto, along with a contingent of police, conducted raids on Jafarabad and other villages to arrest the killers.
The DPO encamped outside the village and sent a message asking the suspects to surrender and warned that it was not done police would enter the village.
Some 14 people surrendered but not a single person involved in the killing of the six people was among them.
The number of suspects arrested so far has exceeded 60.
Meanwhile, the six diseased were laid to rest in a local graveyard amid tight security.
A contingent of police along with APCs have been deployed in the area to control law and order situation and to avert further bloodshed.
Miandad Lakhan, father of deceased Sodhal Lakhan, registered an FIR (37/2005) against 15 alleged assailants.
They include Hajan Mahar, Anwar Mahar, Ghulam Mustafa, Ghulam Murtaza, Moula Bux, Gulzar, Sikandar, Ayaz, Dhani Bux, Dilshad Mahar and Ahmed Ali Khoso.
WRITTEN TEST: The written test for recruitment of wireless operators, drivers and constables in the Sindh-Balochistan border force will be held on June 4, instead of May 25.
The test of candidates, who qualified the physical test, would be held at the Police Training School ground in Larkana, said Sukkur RPO Niaz Ahmad Siddiqui in a press statement issued on Thursday.
He said candidates of Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Kashmore who could not apply for the posts should appear at their respective district Police Lines along with necessary documents between May 29 and 31 for a physical test.
MEDICAL CAMP: The Pakistan Army’s 72-medical battalion, Pano Aqil cantonment, will hold a free medical camp at the Pano Aqil Taluka Hospital from May 23 to 24.
