PESHAWAR, May 19: The Joint Action Committee (JAC), a group of civil society organizations, has urged the government to provide financial assistance to the children of Ashiq Nabi, a blasphemy accused killed last month. Ashiq was killed allegedly by residents of the Speen Hak village in the Nowshera district on April 20 reportedly after a local cleric had issued a decree against him. The JAC had sent on May 9 a fact-finding team to the area where Ashiq was killed.
It released its report in the presence of Ashiq’s widow and children at a news conference.—Correspondent
