PESHAWAR: Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) general secretary Liaquat Baloch has said that the provincial council of the alliance would announce cabinet for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

In a statement issued after chairing a meeting of the MMA here on Wednesday, he said that other religious groups would also be accommodated in the five-party alliance before general elections.

Central leaders of MMA including Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri attended meeting. The meeting, which lasted for more than five hours, was called to announce cabinet for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to reports the meeting remained inconclusive because of differences between Jamaat-i-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl over slot of president for the province. JI demands the slot of president in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This is worth mentioning that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been elected central president of the alliance. The alliance has yet to announce cabinets for the four provinces.

The statement said that the council would comprise provincial presidents of the five parties while three members of each party would also become members of the body.

The council would formally announce the cabinet on Saturday.

It said that the alliance would steer out the country of the political and economic crises. It also said that Maulana Samiul Haq, chief of his own faction of JUI, had only option to join MMA. Maulana Sami has announced electoral alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
