ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Chief Secretary assured the Supreme Court on Wednesday that Sheikh Zayed Hospital (Lahore) Chairman Dr Farid Khan would not be granted extension in his tenure.
A three-judge bench headed by the chief justice heard the application of Dr Muzammil Tahir of Medical Teachers Association and Dr Nasir Din of SZH Allied Health Organization, challenging the proposed extension in the tenure of Dr Khan.
The petitioner’s counsel apprised the court that incumbent chairman was appointed in violation of rules.
The additional advocate general informed the court that the chairman’s contract would end on April 10 and the hospital’s board of governors had asked him to continue working till the appointment of new one.
The chief justice remarked that there were a lot of complaints against Farid Khan.
The chief secretary assured the court that extension would not be granted to the incumbent chairman. The court, however, sought an affidavit from the chief secretary and law secretary and directed them to give the hospital’s charge to the senior most person.
