KARACHI: 3 die in accidents

KARACHI, May 19: Three persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city Thursday. A pedestrian died in a road accident at Gurumandir. Police said Moosa, 45, a pedestrian was crossing the busy intersection when a bus of route 1-D knocked him down. The victim was taken to Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A policeman died when a speeding truck knocked him down in DHA on Thursday morning.

Police said two constables were returning home following their duty at a diplomatic mission when a speeding truck appeared. As they tried to stop the truck, it ran over a head constable, identified as Mumtaz Shah. His associate Akram survived.

In another accident, a young motorcyclist died in a hit and run accident at NIPA traffic section on Thursday.

Muqarir, 26, was on his motorcycle when an unknown vehicle knocked him down. The victim died on the spot, and his body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities.

Boy killed: A teenaged boy was killed after being subjected to sodomy in Korangi Industrial Area Thursday.

Police said Owais Aqeel, 14, a Class-X was sodomized and later strangulated to death by unknown persons in Korangi-5.

Police said Owais was alone in the house on Thursday when the incident occurred. His family members were away for work, police said. Police said the incident was reported to the police when a member of the family returned home.

Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem. Police are investigating the case.
